Evening primrose oil comes from the seeds of a plant, native to North America that contains the essential fatty acid GLA (gamma-linolenic acid). We all need GLA as it is a key element in the production of prostaglandins which play an important role in hormone regulation.
In fact, prostaglandins are known to regulate the female reproductive system and are involved in the control of ovulation, the menstrual cycle and the induction of labour. Interestingly, they are produced in the tissues of the body where they are needed rather than in any particular organ. Whether it is in response to an infection, tissue repair or another biological function the body can produce the specific prostaglandins it needs on-demand. The catch is that the body needs certain nutrients to act as precursors in order to produce them. Prostaglandin production is dependent on the body’s uptake of omega oils including GLA found in Evening Primrose Oil.
Unfortunately, just like Salvestrols, naturally sourced amounts of GLA, other essential fatty acids and trace minerals have disappeared or are greatly reduced in our daily diet so in order for our body to obtain appropriate levels of them we need to take them in supplement form.
Many studies have shown GLA to be an effective agent to help halt malignant cell growth and metastasis. Efamol Evening Primrose Oil contains 33% more GLA than similar products and more importantly, they contain plant sterols, some of which are important co-factors for Salvestrols, particularly in patients with hormonally influenced cancers, such as breast, cervical and ovarian. As it is a fatty acid it can also assist with the transportation of lipophilic salvestrols across the blood-brain barrier if the target cancer is in the brain.
Because Efamol Evening Primrose Oil helps with hormonal regulation it can reduce the symptoms of PMS and menopausal hot flushes. It also helps with the treatment of skin disorders including acne, and improves the skins elasticity, firmness and moisture content making it a must for all women!
